The poll, commissioned by extramarital dating website IllicitEncounters.com, asked more than 2,000 female members of the site what they thought the sexiest profession was – and why. Topping the survey were the chefs, with 27% of the vote, suggesting that a way to a woman's heart is also through her stomach. Doctors came in second place (23%) with females describing them as caring, intelligent and motivated, while the profession of lawyer took third spot (15%). Firemen (12%) were also found to be attractive and were described as heroic, attentive and handsome, while farmers rounded out the top five with 6% of the vote.
When it came to the least attractive profession however, it was revealed to be a Member of Parliament with 0.5% of the vote, as women saw them as boring, over-confident, self-absorbed and generally having a bad reputation.
Commenting on the results, Rosie Freeman-Jones, spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com, said: "I think the media has played a massive part in what women see as attractive qualities in men – they look for passion, creativity, ambition and drive.
"Women like men who can spoil them in the kitchen and make them feel special, they also want men who are caring.
"Unfortunately where the media may have helped lift the profile of Chef's to women, it has had the opposite effect for MP's – even Boris Johnson couldn't save them from being last after previously being voted the sexiest politician by Illicit Encounters members."
