Edwards, 20, and Zayn Malik, announced their engagement in August last year after almost two years of dating.
In an interview with The Sun on Sunday's Fabulous magazine, the singer has now revealed that there was no doubt as to what her answer to the question was going to be.
She said: "It was a no-brainer. I think you know yourself when the time's right and when you're with the right person."
When asked if she thought she was too young to tie the knot and settle down, she dismissed the thought and said she is "old-school" when it comes to relationships.
She explained: "I'm not a typical girl that's partying all the time. I just want to be with someone and let that be it."
Ever since announcing their engagement, Edwards and her One Direction star fiancé have remained tight-lipped on their wedding plans. It is understood that while their work schedules are keeping them busy from planning too far ahead, the couple hope to marry on a beach in Barbados by 2015.
