'Burger King Baby' Finds Birth Mother

A woman who launched a social media campaign to find her birth mother has been successful, it has been reported.

Katheryn Deprill, 27, hit the headlines earlier this month when she took to Facebook to try and track down her birth mother. Ms Deprill, who is married and has three children of her own, was abandoned as a baby in the bathroom of a Burger King restaurant in 1986.

She was raised by adoptive parents, but in March this year, she posted a photograph of herself with an appeal to find her mother. Deprill was holding a sign which read: "Looking for my birth mother ... She abandoned me in the Burger King bathroom only hours old, Allentown PA. Please help me find her by sharing my post."

Within hours of the appeal, Deprill – also quickly known as 'the Burger King Baby' – discovered her picture had been reposted thousands of times.

According to media reports, the 27-year-old was successful with her appeal and met her birth mother for the first time on Monday in the office of a lawyer. She added in an interview with the Associated Press, that she felt "pure joy" at being reconciled and it was like "looking in a mirror".

It is understood the two women plan to meet again to get to know each other better.
