Ed Sheeran Pens Song About Ex

Ed Sheeran is said to have written a song about one of his ex-girlfriends.

While the singer-songwriter has remained quiet on who the mysterious woman is, there are claims that he is talking about British singer Ellie Goulding.

Speaking to Billboard, Sheeran explained that the story behind the song, which is about a girlfriend cheating on him with a mutual friend, is based on a past experience.

He said: "The story in 'Don't' is 100 per cent true. I could have gotten nastier – there was more s*** that I didn't put in.

"I was seeing someone for a bit of time, and then they ended up physically involved with one of my friends in the same hotel that we were staying in, while I was downstairs.

"And I feel like: Treat people how you want to be treated."

The reason as to why some believe the song has been penned about Goulding, is due to one line: "We make money the same way... You were looking for a lover to burn," which is being translated as a reference to Goulding's hit 'Burn'.

Sheeran and Goulding are said to have dated briefly in 2013.
