According to The Metro, 48-year-old Maria Neal had been in a coma for a week with her family by her side. They had tried to bring her out of the condition by talking to her and getting a response, but it was only when her husband, Steve, started to play songs from the couple's wedding way, that something happened.
Steve decided to play the couple's two favourite songs – Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers and If You Don't Know Me By Now by Simply Red – which they danced to at their wedding 21 years previously.
The couple's daughter, 20-year-old Krystal, is quoted as saying: "We spent hours talking to her and trying to find anything that we thought would stimulate a response.
"Dad downloaded their wedding songs onto his phone and played them to mum with tears rolling from his face onto hers.
"This broke my heart but she started to move her right arm and a couple of days after this she started nodding."
Mrs Neal's condition has continued to improve and the family are now hoping to raise funds to allow her to be cared for at home in Kent.
