Last month, research claimed 'Zzyzx' was the oddest baby name around, but a newly-released list has revealed a few more names challenging for the title.
Using data from the Social Security Administration's list of top names for 2013, there was 1,400 monikers given to five or more children for the very first time.
The list of names, which has been put together by Nameberry.com, found that both boys and girls were given equally bizarre names last year.
For example, six boys were named Power, six were named Warrior and six more were also named Kyndle. Subaru (5) and Vice (5) were also on the list, while inventive spelling of names was also popular. For example, 10 boys were called Jceion, while seven were named Xzaiden.
The girls' monikers were just as unique, however, with Vanellope – pronounced like Penelope with a 'V' – topping the list with 63 uses. Vanellope is the name of a fictional character in the 2012 animated movie, Wreck-It-Ralph, and is thought to be behind the surge in the use of the name.
Other popular, yet strange names, were Pistol (9 uses), Happiness (8), Envie (7), Sierraleone (5) and Snowy (5).
