As if that wasn't enough, 92% of those who have cheated said they would keep their infidelity a secret from their soon-to-be betrothed.
The study, which has been commissioned by vouchercloud, also found that of those who had been unfaithful during their last night of freedom, 74% were worried that their other half would find out – because of friends and family who had attended their pre-wedding celebrations.
For those who cheated, they were asked why. The top excuse, with a staggering 76% of the vote, was "I was drunk and things got out of control". This was followed by, "I had cold feet and felt stressed about the wedding", "I wanted to enjoy my last chance of freedom", "I had a 'hall pass', e.g. my partner agreed we could have a fling on our stag and hen dos', and "I was pressurised by other attendees of the stag or hen do".
Staying with those who had been unfaithful, they were asked if their hen or stag party was held in the UK or abroad. Interestingly, 67% of unfaithful stags and hens held their parties abroad, with just 33% being naughty while they partied in the UK.
There was some hope that honesty could prevail however, as 8% of respondents who had cheated also confessed they had told partner about their indiscretions afterwards.
Elsewhere, all respondents were asked if strippers had been a part of their hen or stag do – with 62% saying yes. On average, the expenditure totalled £120 per person, and when broken down further, it was revealed that 78% of strip club attendees are male, and 22% are female.
Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson for vouchercloud, said: "I think it's no secret that when full of alcohol and banter, things can get out of hand on these events and one of these things is the issue of cheating.
"Many people see this as their chance for a final fling before finally settling down. We were surprised to see that a good two thirds of the country remain faithful even in the excitement of their celebration."
They continued: "Concerning the findings on strip clubs, it seems that those who partake in these are obviously well paid or manage their finances pretty well. An average spend of £120 per person is a large chunk of money from the pre-nuptial party budget. Let's hope it was worth it, and not something they regretted the next morning when they woke up with a sore head!"
