Women Want To Meet 'The One' Aged 24

The average woman wishes to meet 'The One' when they are aged 24, have children by the age of 27 and reach the pinnacle of their career by the age of 34, a new study has found.

Almost two-thirds of the women polled also admitted they had a life plan which they try to follow.

Other items on this plan include passing their driving test aged 19, having their first proper job at 22 and getting engaged at 27.

However, despite women knowing what they want from life, the study, which has been commissioned by 3M's Post-it brand, revealed that almost a quarter said circumstances had taken them away from their original plan. One in two said they had missed major milestones, while six in 10 felt they were behind schedule in achieving their life goals. In fact, respondents who had completed milestones did so six years later than they had originally intended. Just a quarter said their life was "spot on" with regards to their plan.

Sadly, for 30%, they felt there were aims they had missed the chance to achieve, while a fifth said they had unfulfilled plans because they didn't know where to start. This is despite more than a third saying they are "very organised" in nature. Other unfulfilled plans included starting their own business, achieving their ideal weight and size, and retraining in a different career. A further quarter said they still hope to live by the sea one day, but the study found that finance, a fear that they are now too old and a lack of bravery to "just go for it", were the most common issues to stop a woman living her dreams.

Thinking Woman's Coach and Post-it spokesperson, Jessica Chivers, commented: "We all hold dreams and certain aims we want for ourselves and very often we're hopeful we'll achieve these things by a certain age.

"For the big things in life there will always be an element that is out of our hands, but the results show that people clearly have a plan of when they would ideally like things to happen.

"The important thing is to keep goals front of mind and to acknowledge the small successes you're having that are taking you towards the ultimate achievement."
