Coronation Street Receives Wedding Licence

Fans of Coronation Street could now make the popular soap a part of their big day – after the former set was granted a wedding licence.

Earlier this year, the show relocated from its set in central Manchester to a new site in Salford Quays. Following the move, the previous set was then opened to allow guided tours to take place. According to reports, its indoor Studio One has now been granted permission to host wedding ceremonies. The studio is home to the interior sets for the Rovers Return, the Platt household, the Duckworth household and the Underworld factory.

Andy Begg, General Manager of 'Coronation Street The Tour', is quoted as saying it is "a real must for any die hard Corrie fan wanting to tie the knot in style".

He added: "We are currently in the process of working out what packages can be made available, but rest assured, you can guarantee the Rovers will play a big part."

It is understood weddings will be held on the site on weekday evenings, during school-term time, when guided tours are not taking place.
