Baby Born In Street Is 'Doing Fine'

A baby girl who was born outside a Primark store in Birmingham on Tuesday is "doing fine", paramedics have confirmed.

Shortly before 2pm yesterday afternoon (1 July), emergency services were called to New Street in the city after receiving reports that a woman had gone into labour. Ambulance staff at the scene had to hold up sheets in the middle of the busy street to try and give the mother privacy as she gave birth.

"Mother and baby are both okay, and have been taken to City Hospital."

No further details have been released, but many people who were in the area have posted photos of the scene to Twitter.
