Mayor Ties The Knot – With A Crocodile

The mayor of a fishing town in Mexico has tied the knot – with a crocodile.

According to reports, mayor Joel Vasquez Rojas and the 'bride', who was dressed in white, married as part of a well-known tradition.

Before the ceremony started, the wedding party, including the crocodile, walked through the Mexican town of San Pedro Huamelula. The wedding was then held and afterwards, guests took it in turns to dance with the bride.

As the two married, the mayor is quoted as saying: "It's my wish to marry the young princess."

He then danced with his new 'wife' in his arms before guests joined in.

Local tradition claims that the animal is a princess and there are hopes that the ceremony will increase the numbers of fish, shrimp and other seafood caught along the coast.
