According to reports, a website for the venue has already been set up, advertising the location as available for hire for weddings and events.
It adds that it will launch from autumn 2014.
However, it is understood that a planning application has yet to be approved for the venture.
Local residents are also said to oppose the plans, with many concerned about the impact it will have on the area, The Gazette has claimed.

I haven't seen the application yet but I am on the planning committee. If residents have concerns however, they will have ample time to voice them throughout the application process."
On the venue's website, Bridwell Park, Lord Ivar Mountbatten writes: "I am delighted to welcome you to my family home, Bridwell Park. The forthcoming launch of the house and park as an exceptional events venue in the fabulous county of Devon will see the fulfilment of my vision after many months of enthusiastic planning and preparation."
