Paul and Joanne Seymour, who are from Kent, decided to renew their wedding vows after 30 years together, but as they are both huge fans of the sci-fi show, they felt it needed to play a key role in the day.
According to the Daily Mail, the couple even dressed appropriately for the occasion, with the groom wearing a scarf and fez and carrying a sonic screwdriver, while the bride wore a black lace dress and a Tardis hair ribbon.
It is understood the Seymour's walked down the aisle to the show's famous theme music. They then, unknown to their guests, pretended that the groom's brother Martin had lost the wedding ring. After he ran out of the doors of St Paul's Church in Gravesend in a panic, the entrance was suddenly filled with a cloud of smoke – and a Dalek entered carrying the ring.
The Dalek made its way down the aisle and was greeted by the vicar before the couple finally exchanged their vows. A Doctor Who-themed reception took place afterwards for the pair and their 80 guests.
The idea behind the day came around after the couple said they wanted to raise money for a local charity. Paul explained: "We didn't really plan to do all of this. Originally we just wanted to walk down to aisle to the Doctor Who theme tune but then when Jo bought me the Dalek for my birthday, well, this all happened.
"The Dalek was actually an actor in a costume, I don't think the guests were expecting it. It's definitely something to remember. The vicar was a bit sceptical about it, particularly the Dalek as it's the epitome of evil but thankfully that all worked out.
"When we spoke about doing it for charity, he was up for it and even let us split the collection plate from the ceremony."
His wife added: "I cam remember I used to hide behind the couch when I was a child watching Dr Who. I've always been a fan. It was an amazing wedding and I'm glad we decided to do something different."
The couple were raising money for the Little Buds Fund for special care babies at Darent Valley Hospital where they both work.
