Clooney Picks Up Marriage Licence

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin have sparked speculation that they are to marry soon after they were said to have picked up their marriage licence.

It is understood the couple visited Chelsea Register Office in London last month to get their wedding banns to officially announce their intention to marry.


Their names were listed on a legal notice which has to be displayed publicly for 16 days before they can marry. According to People magazine, the couple's details are mentioned on the document, while the venue for the wedding is listed as Italy.

Clooney, 53, and 36-year-old Alamuddin, a human rights lawyer based in London, announced their engagement in April. They are thought to have started dating in October 2013.
