Hurricane Bertha Interrupts Wedding

A couple from South Yorkshire have revealed how their wedding day was interrupted by the tail end of Hurricane Bertha.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Richard Owen and Katy Lomas, tied the knot at Wentworth Castle, Barnsley, at the weekend. However, as they exchanged vows, a heavy downpour of rain started and the venue quickly flooded. The pair were determined not to let the weather ruin their big day though, and chose to stick out the weather – and even pose for photos in the puddles.


Speaking on the radio show, Katy admitted: "We were happy we could have a reception at all. It wasn't ruined at all, it was changed", with the couple describing their wedding day as "brilliant".
