Officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary were called to Fanhams Hall Hotel on Sunday (10 August) at around 1.45am following reports that an altercation had taken place in the bar of the venue. It is understood the assault involved people from two wedding parties.
One man, aged 47, is said to have suffered injuries to his nose.
Two men were arrested in connection with the incident. A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm. He has been released on bail pending further inquiries. A second man, aged 44, was also arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm. He has also been released on bail pending further inquiries.
PC Christopher Smith said: "We have spoken with a number of people already but I would ask anyone who was in the hotel in the early hours of Sunday and who saw what happened or anyone who has any information which would assist the investigation to contact me with details."
