Emma, 28, and Christopher Hamilton, 27, as well as their son Charlie and their best man Jake, were at the Hotel Victoria in Newquay, Cornwall, when the incident happened. According to reports, the party were making their way to the bridal suite at the hotel to drop off some luggage. However, after entering the lift, they became stuck between the ground floor and the first floor of the venue. They managed to make contact with hotel staff via the intercom but were forced to wait another 30 minutes before they were rescued. In that time, the couple decided to take their very own "wedding day selfies".
Mrs Hamilton is quoted by The Metro as saying: "We were going up to the fourth floor when the lift stopped. We could not believe this was happening on our wedding day.
"We were supposed to be having our wedding photographs taken before the meal, but it was quite funny. The firefighters were brilliant.
"They had to cut off the power for the lift and lower us down by about six foot. We even had our photos taken with the fire crew so we could remember what happened on our wedding day."
