The model, 34, was making an appearance on This Morning to promote her new autobiography, Close Up, when she confirmed the reports. After host Phillip Schofield read out an excerpt from the book about Brook hitting her former boyfriends – Jason Statham and Danny Cipriani – she said: "It's true, I did both of those things. Listen, I'm not saying that I'm an angel and I'm not saying that things I've done are right. But yeah, I guess I get some of that fiery passion from my parents.
"I guess so. Not that I'm going to make a habit of doing that in the future – I'm just going to pick more wisely about the men I be with."
When asked about the incidents, she said her altercation with Statham occurred after he embarrassed her at Madonna and Guy Ritchie's wedding. She said: "In my defence, I don't think he felt it [the punch]. This is Jason we're talking about; he's a martial arts expert."
She added that she then punched ex-boyfriend Cipriani after she discovered he had given his number to a stripper.
However, she later joked: "These are big men I'm going out with – I mean look at me – I'm not going to do them any damage."
Brook's comments quickly sparked outrage with both men and women, with many accusing the model of trivialising the issue of domestic violence and claiming that if the gender roles were reversed, there would be more of a public backlash.
Previous statistics have revealed that one in six men will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime, compared to one in four women. In every third instance of domestic violence, the victim is a man.
