George Clooney's Marriage Made Official

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin's marriage has been made official following a civil ceremony in Venice.

Last week, it had been reported that the couple were due to marry today (29 September), but on Saturday a representative for the actor revealed the couple had tied the knot over the weekend. Monday's civil ceremony, which was held at the city hall in Venice was around 10 minutes long and was to seal the marriage, it is understood.

At city hall, the pair were officially married under Italian law by former Mayor of Rome Walter Veltroni, who is also a long time friend of Clooney.

The actor, 53, and Alamuddin, 36, a human rights lawyer based in London, announced their engagement in April. They are thought to have started dating in October 2013.
