Only one in 10 men said they would do the same.
The study, commissioned by cake company Mr Kipling, also revealed other things people are willing to give up, just so they could eat some cake.
For example, many said they would be get rid of their car, the internet, or their phone if it meant they could have the sweet treat.
Almost a quarter said they would never drink wine again, while 11% of men said they had tried to win a woman's heart with cake. This compares to just 7% of women. While 9% of men were willing to say goodbye to sex, 16% of women said the same.
Social media and television were also under threat, with 25% and 13% respectively, saying they would ditch them in place of cake.
Elsewhere, the study, which marked the launch of National Cake Week, asked 2,000 participants what their favourite cake is. Perhaps not surprisingly, chocolate cake topped the poll with half of the votes, with Victoria Sponge coming in second and lemon drizzle in third.
The UK's top 10 favourite cakes are:
1. Chocolate (50%)
2. Victoria Sponge (31%)
3. Lemon Drizzle (28%)
4. Carrot (26%)
5. Cherry Bakewell (23%)
6. Coffee (16%)
7. Christmas Cake (15%)
8. Battenberg (14%)
9. Angel Slices (13%)
10. Madeira (8%)
Claire Harrison-Church, category business unit director for Mr Kipling,
commented: "Cake is one of the things the nation simply cannot live without, even if it just a little treat every now and then."
