The Coronation Street actress made the revelation in a recent interview with OK! magazine.
Speaking to the publication, the couple, who have been in a relationship since February, said they had spoken about marriage and family. However, Marsh also said that it likely the pair will have to rely on a surrogate if they want a child. The actress was forced to have an ablation of the womb after suffering from severe health problems, so while she could still conceive a child, she would struggle to carry to full-term.
She said: "When they did the operation they asked me if I wanted any more children and I said no because I was in a different place then.
"Also, having kids for me is really traumatic; I didn't want what I went through with Archie [her son who died in 2009 after he was born 18 weeks premature].
"But now I've met Dan we're a bit upset as we would have loved to have kids together in the future. We don't know what the future holds with regard to adoption or surrogacy, but it will all make sense in the future.
"I've never been happier. I feel like a weight's been lifted off my shoulders and it's all because of Dan."
Her partner added: "It didn't take me very long to fall in love. Kym's amazing inside and out. We laugh all the time."
Marsh, 38, is already a mother of three – daughters Emily and Polly and son David – from previous relationships, but this would be her first child with current boyfriend Dan Hooper. Hooper, 32, also has a daughter from his former relationship with actress Stephanie Waring.
