Andrea Faustini, 20, made the admission earlier this month in an interview with New! magazine.
The singer, who is one of the favourites to win the show, told the publication, he said: "I have been single for 20 years.
"Love is something that I have never looked for and has never come my way. I haven't yet found the special person who is right for me."
"I am the male Bridget Jones – awkward. I always mess up."
However, in a more recent interview with Italian Vanity Fair, he was asked if he had ever lost his virginity, to which he replied: "Well, if in 20 years I have never been in love..."
The singer added that the most important woman in his life is his sister, and he even has a tattoo on his wrist to remind him of her and that she is "always with him".
