The former Olympic swimmer and her husband, Harry Needs, revealed the news in an interview with Hello! magazine.
Speaking to the publication, the 25-year-old said of her pregnancy: "The due date is June 4 so, yes, we must have conceived on the first day of our honeymoon in Venice."
Her partner was quick to add, however: "But we're not the Beckhams – we won't be calling the baby Venice."
Adlington then went on to say she would like to have a water birth.
"A few friends have recommended it," she shared. "I would like the birth to be as natural as possible, but you can't really plan it, can you?"
The couple recently went for their unborn child's first scan and were delighted to be told that the baby was developing normally.
She continued: "Thank goodness everything is OK. It was such a relief to see the heartbeat.
"I think you feel such a responsibility as the woman because you are the one looking after the baby. Harry was more excited but I was more nervous."
Adlington and Needs married at The Ashes, Staffordshire, in September. The couple started dating in 2011.
