According to reports, Susan and Carl Smith were having their wedding reception at the Mar Hall resort in Renfrewshire on Sunday when the rock legend made an appearance.
Mr Daltrey is understood to have also been staying at the venue ahead of his group's concert at the Hydro.
The newlyweds had already a band booked for their reception – The Milestone – and Daltrey decided to join them on stage for an impromptu performance.
Speaking to BBC Radio's Good Morning Scotland programme, Graeme Allan, lead guitarist of The Milestone, explained: "Basically we were coming towards the end of our set and we were sort of halfway through a song. I remember looking over to the side of the dance floor and a wedding guest was actually walking with Roger, coming towards the band.
"Roger came up and he took the mike and he congratulated the bride and groom. Because the groom had served in the parachute regiment he also mentioned them as well. Then he turned to the band and he said, 'I was through next door and I heard the band and they're brilliant, so I had to come through'."
Daltrey then asked the band if they wanted to do a song together and in the end, they chose 'I Can't Explain' – The Who's 1964 hit single.
Mr and Mrs Smith also took to social network to share their unique wedding experience, as well as a photo of the occasion.
Mrs Smith wrote on Facebook: "Absolutely overwhelming! The story we will be telling for the rest of our lives. Thank you so much x."
While her husband said: "Can't believe it happened. Feels so surreal. Thank you so much, you made our perfect day even better, a gent and a legend."
