In June of this year, Caroline and James Granshaw married in West Sussex, but the bride's ring was stolen from her handbag during the ceremony, ITV News has said.
At the time, a reward of £1,000 was offered for the return of the sapphire and diamond-encrusted platinum band, but this never happened. The ring was designed by the groom.
Now, Mrs Granshaw has finally received a wedding ring – after a jeweller heard about her story and decided to make her a replica.
Ashraf Ahmed read an article about the theft when he was travelling through Hong Kong airport and came to the newlywed's aid. He chose a blue sapphire stone for the ring and his team followed the original design.
Mrs Granshaw is quoted by ITV News as saying: "I am truly overwhelmed by Mr Ahmed's generosity. It's been a difficult time as it cast a shadow over our wedding day but I'm thrilled with my new ring and I can't thank him enough."
