The couple, who star on The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) – added that they are looking forward to spending the Christmas holidays together.
Speaking on ITV's 'This Morning', the pair admitted that they had been through a tough year – even having a row on the way to the studio this morning – but said that they were fine.
Armstrong commented: "We're in a good place. A lot better. We've been through a lot in the last year but we're looking forward to a nice Christmas."
Her partner added it can also be difficult because their personal life is played out in public.
"It's scrutinised by everyone," he explained. "Normally, an everyday relationship is scrutinised by your friends and family and it's hard anyway, but when you're in the public eye, you have the press and public looking at you and scrutinising too. Don't get me wrong, we choose to do it, but it's hard."
"In Essex, it's no big thing because everybody knows everybody's business," Armstrong added.
