Holiday Memories Top Wedding Ones

A new survey has found that a person's favourite memory is more likely to have been made on a holiday, rather than an important occasion – such as their wedding day.

The poll, conducted by sunshine.co.uk, asked 2,537 people, aged 18 or over, about their earliest and favourite memories.

They were asked, "When thinking back to your earliest childhood memory, where were you at the time?".

Topping the list, was school (31%), while home (27%), holiday (25%) and playing with friends (3%) also featured in the top five.

They were then asked, "When thinking of your favourite memory, where were you or what were doing at the time?".

On holiday topped this list with 42% of the vote, and was followed by school (23%). Perhaps surprisingly, a person's wedding day came third (11%), with the birth of a child (8%) and on honeymoon (6%) completing the top five.

Chris Clarkson, Managing Director at sunshine.co.uk, said: "Holidays are definitely a more special time for all of us, so that explains why some people's earliest memories are from a childhood vacation.

"Many of my favourite memories were spent on holidays, but to see them ranking so highly compared to other memories was definitely a revelation.

"I know not everyone we spoke to was married or a parent, but it just goes to show how holidays have a special place in our hearts."
