Earlier this month, the 17-year-old confirmed her relationship with boyfriend Liam Baker had ended. The news came after weeks of speculation that the singer had grown close to one of her fellow contestants Charlie George.
While Platt did not initially give a reason as to why the relationship ended, she has now spoken to The Sun newspaper about the rumours.
She explained: "Liam didn't sign up for the X Factor, but he ended up being dragged along for the ride. And to do that to a person is hard.
"Since I moved into the house we have been completely away from each other, and then Charlie and I started to become closer and closer.
"It's very rare to meet someone who is exactly like you, and it is scary how much we are the same."
The teenager went on to say that she had put some distance between herself and Charlie after "going off him", and that she hadn't ruled out a reunion with her ex.
"Hopefully in the future, we'll get back together," she confessed. "But if we don't work out I won't have any regrets."
