Sir Elton John To Marry Partner

Sir Elton John is set to marry his long-time partner David Furnish.

The couple have been in a civil partnership since 21 December 2005, and according to the Daily Mirror, the couple will marry later this month, on their ninth anniversary.

If the reports are true, the couple's union will be officially converted into a marriage, after the UK's legislation changed earlier this year.

The couple are said to be planning a "small and intimate ceremony" for their big day, which will be held at their estate in Berkshire.

A friend of the couple is quoted by the publication as saying: "Elton and David have been planning this for months. Elton is flamboyant but, for once, this will be decidedly low-key affair. Only close friends and family are invited – it's going to be a small, intimate do."

Sir Elton, 67, and 52-year-old Furnish started dating in 1993. In December 2005, when the Civil Partnership Act became law, the couple entered into a civil partnership. Their first son, Zachary, was born to a surrogate mother in December 2010. Their second son, Elijah, was born to the same mother in January 2013.
