It has previously been reported that Ellis had been unfaithful to his partner, and that was the reason as to why the couple split. However, Outhwaite, 44, has now suggested that she separated from the actor over more than just a "one-night stand".
Speaking to Essentials magazine, the actress is quoted as saying: "I wouldn't not be with my husband over a one-night stand is all I'll say."
She added that when she does decide to tell the couple's two children as to why they are no longer together, she will "tell them exactly what happened and it will come from me. He's still their dad and they still have a relationship."
Outhwaite also said she would not reveal the details to the press, as she does not want to hurt her daughters.
Outhwaite and Ellis first met in 2005. They married the following year and have two children together. Their first daughter, Florence, was born in 2008 and their second daughter, Marnie Mae, was born in 2012. In the summer of 2013, the couple announced their seven-year marriage had come to an end. Their divorce was finalised in April 2014.
