Tyldesley Hits Out At Midwife

Catherine Tyldesley has hit out at a midwife in her latest blog for Hello! magazine.

The Coronation Street actress is currently pregnant with her first child and she described how she was watching a certain famous documentary about midwives and children", when one member of the medical staff offered "advice" to an expectant mother

Her advice, the 31-year-old claims, was: "Childbirth is horrific. It is the worst pain you will ever experience.

"You won't want to do it again. But you will. We have plenty of drugs to get you through, that is why were here."

Now, Tyldesley has hit out at the so-called advice, and wrote: "If your mind is surrounded by negative words, negative influence and intervention... that's not going to be very helpful for you or baby is it?

"I appreciate that often medical intervention is needed and can be a wonderful thing – if it's needed, it's needed. However the more 'intervention' mum has – generally the longer the labour will take. So its always best to endeavour to birth as naturally as possible."

She concluded: "We've been doing this for millions of years – our bodies are designed to do this – YOU CAN DO THIS!!!"

In August 2014, the actress and her partner Tom Pitfield confirmed they were expecting their first child together. The news came just days before they revealed they were engaged.
