Mark Owen added: "He didn't want us there originally because he hates any sort of fuss. But there was no way we were going to miss it."
Donald, 46, spoke about his low-key wedding to Ms Halil at the world premiere of 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' last week and he admitted: "My wife is such a great girl. I'm really happy.
"We spoke about having a big magazine wedding but it's just not my style. We told hardly anyone about it in the end."
Following the couple's wedding ceremony, they celebrated with a two-day party at Aynhoe Park house in the Cotswolds. For their reception, 140 of their family and close friends were treated to pizza and fish and chips.
The singer and his wife first met in 2008 when the 'man band' filmed a Christmas advert for Marks & Spencer, however they did not start dating until 2010. It is the first marriage for the singer, who has two daughters – Grace and Lola – from previous relationships.
