More Venues Made Available For Civil Ceremonies

West Lothian Council has announced changes to civil ceremonies being carried out in the area.

The Scottish council said that due to a recent change in legislation, a civil marriage or partnership ceremony is now allowed to take place at any venue within West Lothian.

The changes will enable registrars to perform ceremonies at any location in West Lothian, which has been agreed between the couple and the registrar.

A spokesperson for the local authority said: "The changes to the legislation has opened up the range of venues where our registrars can conduct civil ceremonies in West Lothian.

"Anyone who is interested in holding a civil ceremony in West Lothian should contact us for advice, such as the legal paperwork required. Ceremonies can also be personalised to have close family members or friends say some specially chosen words on your big day.

"We also have our own registration office rooms in Livingston and Bathgate which can cater for ceremonies for up to 50 people."
