Professor Green has admitted he has now "found happiness" through his relationships.
The musician, whose real name is Stephen Manderson, was speaking to The Guardian, when he said it was because of those around him, that he is successful today.
He explained: "My fortunes may have turned around now, but I've found all my happiness in relationships. I'd never change anything I've been through, good or bad.
"As much as it might have been nice to have more financial and emotional security growing up, that would have changed the course of my life, and I learned a lot.
"I do like my own company, but everything I've gained has been with the help and love of other people. No fancy watch or trainers could ever bring you that."
Professor Green, 31, has previously spoken of how his relationship with wife Millie Mackintosh has changed his life. The couple started dating in December 2009 and in March 2013 they announced their engagement. In September of that year, they tied the knot in front of their family and close friends at Babington House in Bath.
