Launching the Marriage Equality campaign, the party's spokesperson on Justice and Equality and Political Director of the campaign, Pádraig Mac Lochlainn, said: "This referendum is solely about marriage equality. It is about ensuring that our gay and lesbian citizens have the same right to marry the person they love as everyone else.
"For Sinn Féin, as a Republican party, equality is at the core of what we represent. We are committed to building a real Republic where social and economic equality are among the main measurements of our nations success"
"Our party elected representatives and members have already been canvassing for a Yes vote across the state along with grass roots campaigners from the Yes Equality campaign.
"In the next number of weeks, Sinn Féin will be vigorously campaigning across every constituency in this state. We are asking the Irish people to vote Yes to equality. All citizens deserve the right to marry the person they love."
