The 55-year-old, whose son Andy tied the knot with his fiancée Kim Sears at the weekend, made the comments in an interview with Closer magazine.
She admitted: "I'm really looking forward to being a granny. I've always wanted to have grandchildren, but I had to be patient and let them get married first."
The tennis coach also made an appearance on BBC's The One Show this week to discuss her son's wedding. When asked about the big day, she told the hosts that she was more proud of his wedding, than when he was crowned Wimbledon champion in 2013.
She said: "It really was a perfect day. It was a very, very happy day and I think everybody was very relaxed and very chilled. It was the perfect day from start to finish even despite the hailstones and the snowstorms that we had during the course of the morning.
"They've been together for a long time so to see them getting married with all their friends and family around them, and in Dunblane, for me that was very, very special to be able to share it with the people in Dunblane who give so much love and support all the time for him.
"They made such a huge effort and so many of them turned out in not great weather and were there for hours."
Murray and Sears, both 27, married at Dunblane Cathedral on Saturday. Their reception was held at Cromlix House, which is located near Dunblane. The couple first met in 2005 at the US Open and started dating shortly afterwards. In November 2014, they confirmed they were engaged.
