Her comments come after sections of her new autobiography, Secrets And Lies, was serialised in a UK newspaper earlier this week, where she labelled her ex as "paranoid" and "jealous".
Appearing on ITV's This Morning on Wednesday (22 April), Faiers was asked about the split, and she admitted she discussed the couple's romance in her book because Essex had documented it first in his own book, Being Reem.
She explained: "When I signed my book deal, I read his book and there were so much stuff in there that I wanted to respond to. I hold my hands up in the book, which he didn't do in his. It was really unfair.
"We were on and off for four years. What we had, we were in love and we did have fun when we were together. The pressures of the TV show was really difficult.
"I put a lot of it down to age. It was constant arguing and battling with each other. I'm not going to sit here and blame him, I was just as bad."
Faiers and Essex, both 24, dated on-and-off while they both starred in reality television show The Only Way Is Essex. They were together for two years, but in June 2013, they called time on their romance – just days before Essex headed to Australia to take part in 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!'
In March 2014, the couple reunited, but by November, they confirmed they had ended their relationship for good.
