No Planning Permission For Marriage Equality Mural

Dublin City Council (DCC) has warned that a pro-marriage equality mural may have to be removed as no planning permission was sought for the artwork.

Created by artist Joe Caslin, the mural depicts two men in an embrace.

It appeared on the side of a building on South Great George's Street in the city last month.

According to a report, Councillor Mannix Flynn said that the "only issue" was with the lack of planning permission and not the actual content of the mural.

"I'm totally for the 'Yes' campaign and, personally, I think that it is a fine piece of art, but it's simply about adhering to the regulations and making sure there is consistency," he told the Herald.
