Ashlea Howard, 30, and her new husband Daniel appeared on Facebook after it was uploaded to photographer Lee Maxwell Judd's page. Alongside the image of the couple, was the caption: "Ugliest bride I have ever photographed. Winged (sic) the whole time #Bridezilla#1".
It is understood the bride saw the comment and then hit back.
According to reports, the couple paid Mr Maxwell Judd $1,500 to take photographs of their wedding day, but Mrs Howard, from Greystanes in Sydney's west, said she was unhappy with 90% of the photos taken, claiming they were overexposed, the background was blurry, or people's faces were contorted. In response, the photographer said it was a "creative style".
The newlywed, who married her husband in February of this year, said she thought Mr Maxwell Judd's behaviour at the time was "bizarre" as he kept taking "random quick shots", as well as photos over the top of his head.
Speaking to the Daily Mail Australia, she admitted: "He was definitely one of the cheaper photographers but now I know why. He was acting like some artsy-fartsy creative, it was just a bit bizarre."
However, when she tried to contact him regarding the quality of the photos, she said he would not return her calls. When she tried to contact Mr Maxwell Judd afterwards to complain, she claims he wouldn't return her calls. He also claimed to have sent the couple a USB stick of their wedding photos – only to send it to a different Ashley. It was after this that the Facebook post happened, it is understood. The post, which has since been deleted, referred to Mrs Howard as a "bridezilla" and "ugly". Mr Maxwell Judd has since said his social media page had been hacked. In a message he wrote: "Apologies to all concerned. My FB page was compromised by a computer hack yesterday evening."
Despite the controversy, Mr Maxwell Judd has said he has attracted more business and is now booked up to 2019, while a number of other photographers have offered to re-take images of Mr and Mrs Howard in their wedding attire.
