Tusla Cuts Funding For Marriage Course

Tusla, the statutory child and family agency in Ireland, will no longer fund a marriage preparation course run by the Catholic Church, it is understood.

Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, Gordon Jeyes, Tusla Chief Executive, said that the agency needed to "live within its means when cuts were being made".

He added that money was being taken from "every organisation, irrespective of where it sits".

Bishop Denis Nulty, President of Accord, the Catholic marriage advisory agency, is thought to have called for a meeting with the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, James Reilly, to discuss the issue.
