The research, commissioned by Jacamo, discovered 56% of dads were guilty of following their son's fashion choices in an attempt to avoid looking 'out of date'. A further 64% admitted that they often asked their son for advice when it comes to buying an outfit.
More than 1,000 men were asked by the retailer what they copied from their sons' fashion style. The most popular answers were buying a pair of trainers, rolling jeans up at the bottom, wearing an open shirt with a t-shirt underneath, purchasing a hat and rolling up shirt sleeves.
In addition, of fathers over the age of 45, 11% owned a baseball cap, while 9% confessed to owning a pair of cropped trousers. Some 67% also owned more than two pairs of cufflinks.
A spokesperson for Jacamo is quoted by the MailOnline as saying: "In the past, sons might have looked to their fathers when trying to dress to impress, now it's the other way round.
"Teenagers have a style these days that's both streetwise and edgy, and dads don't want to miss out.
"It's not about being a carbon-copy mini-me, but it's about finding an age-appropriate style that suits your shape and personality."
