New Mother Attacked In Galashiels

A new mother has been attacked in Galashiels as she was out walking her three-week-old baby and dog.

The woman, aged 34, has struck on the face at around 10.30am on Tuesday, on the George Craig Bridge. Police have confirmed they were following a "positive line of inquiry" and a man has since been arrested.


Inspector Bryan Burns, Police Scotland, said: "During the course of our investigation an arrest has also been made for a breach of the peace. The assault is being treated as an isolated incident and we would urge anyone with information to come forward."

He added: "This is an unusual incident for Gala and, as such, we hope anyone who may have witnessed this assault or may have seen anything suspicious in the area on Tuesday morning will come forward."
