61% Of Men 'Ogle Other Women' On Holiday

A new survey has revealed that large numbers of men are guilty of ogling women while they are on holiday – despite being in a relationship.

The research, conducted by sunshine.co.uk, asked 2,144 men – all over the age of 18 and from the UK – about their holiday behaviour. Participants were initially asked, 'Did you ogle women you did not know whilst on your last holiday abroad?'

A total of 61% admitted they had. Of these men, 45% were in a relationship at the time, with 33% also revealing that they were on holiday with their partner at the time.

Looking at other women wasn't enough for some, however, with 14% of men confessing that they had also previously taken photographs of women they didn't know – and without their knowledge – while they were on holiday. 61% of those participants cited the beach, while 43% said the poolside were the most likely places to take the photos.

When asked why they did so, 51% claimed it was "because I appreciated their beauty and wanted to remember it", while 32% gave the reason that they wanted to "show mates back home".

Of the men guilty of taking photographs, 51% were in a relationship at the time and the majority of these (66%) had been on a holiday with their partner at the time.

The men were then asked if they had ever been caught taking such photos by their other half. 12% said they had, while 88% admitted they had been caught ogling other women by their partner.

However, the participants who were in a relationship, were then asked how they would feel if someone secretly took images of their partner while they were in a swimming costume or bikini on holiday – with 74% admitting they would be "furious".

Commenting on the findings, Rebecca Gill, sunshine.co.uk, said: "There's no denying that these findings are really alarming. Women should be able to relax on holiday and not have to have their wits about them 100% of the time. Men have no right to photograph scantily clad women that they do not know in secret. It's very wrong.

"When we asked how men would feel if it was their wife or girlfriend in front of the camera, we found that most of them would quite rightly be furious. It made us realise that a few of those men must be very hypocritical; given that some were also guilty of photographing women in secret."
