The actress, who is best known for playing Debra Morgan in television show Dexter, confirmed the news during an interview with Entertainment Tonight as part of a CBS press conference.
The 35-year-old was making an appearance with her Limitless co-star Jake McForman as they discussed their new show. During one of her answers, Carpenter said: "I get to bring the little one to work so that's amazing to go from, like, this world [points to McDorman], to this world," as she mimed holding a baby.
She added: "It creates a lot of balance. I'm lucky, very lucky."
No further details regarding the birth have been revealed.
Carpenter and her fiancé Seth Avett first met in 2013. It is understood they became engaged in February of this year. It is the couple's first child together.
