Sue Perkins 'Unable To Have Children'

Sue Perkins has revealed she is unable to have children, as she has a brain tumour.

The 45-year-old, who is a presenter on The Great British Bake Off, made the admission in a recent interview with Good Housekeeping magazine.

Revealing that she had been diagnosed with a brain tumour eight years ago, she added that she was then left devastated when she was told the growth affects the production of reproductive hormones.

Explaining that the growth on her pituitary gland is benign, she told the publication: "We live in a time and place where we think everything is possible.

"I don't know if I would have gone on to have children. But as soon as someone says you can't have something, you want it more than anything."

"I'm lucky that it's benign so it's not in itself a worrying thing," she continued. "Sometimes it's big and makes me mad, and sometimes it's small and is in the background. Sometimes it screws up my hormones. I have various tests now to make sure the side effects aren't too onerous."

Perkins discovered the tumour while filming a show for the BBC, Supersizers, in which she ate food from various eras. The doctors who had conducted medical tests to see how the different diets had affected her, told her the news of the growth.
