Pattison, who was crowned Queen of the Jungle at the end of the most recent series, joined the reality television show as a late addition, alongside Matthews and TOWIE star Ferne McCann. However, shortly after his arrival in the jungle, Matthews had to leave after he told producers on the show that he had taken steroids prior to appearing on the show. Pattison remained in the show until the final on Sunday night and has since said she was sad Matthews had to leave, because she felt there was chemistry between them.
Now, speaking to ITV's Loose Women, the 28-year-old said she had since heard from Matthews.
She said: "As soon as I come out I had a message off him on Twitter, a DM, and he basically said he was gutted and would be watching and rooting for us and wanted me to win."
She added that she didn't know the reasons behind her campmate's sudden disappearance: "Basically I had no clue what had gone on with Spencer at all you're kept very much in the dark in there and I was dying to find out as I did feel we had a bit of chemistry."
Keen to stress that they aren't meeting up just yet, however, she continued: "I think Spencer has a lot he needs to deal with, stuff to occupy his time, and I'm assuming I should give him some space to do that.
"We have been messaging and things and it's really quite nice and we've said some quite soppy things to each other like, 'I wish you hadn't gone.'"
