Wedding Party Left Locked Inside Venue

A wedding party was left locked inside a castle over the weekend after staff at the venue went home.

According to a report by the BBC, Lee and Drilona Perry had tied the knot at Newark register office late on Saturday afternoon. Following the ceremony, the couple and their wedding party then moved to Newark Castle which was adjacent to the office to take photographs. However, staff at the register office were unaware of this, locked the gates to the venue and went home.


The group – which consisted of around 50 guests – had to be rescued around an hour later after discovering they had been locked inside the grounds.

The local council has since apologised and are investigating the incident.
