Zika Virus Found In The UK – Reports

The Zika virus has been found in the UK, according to reports.

It is understood Public Health England (PHE) confirmed the cases during a parliamentary committee. The four cases were confirmed within the last six weeks and are all "travel associated".


It is expected that the number of travel-associated infections will increase.

No further details are available.

The mosquito-borne virus is rapidly spreading through the Americas and has been linked to babies being born with underdeveloped brains. Last month, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the microcephaly condition, which sees children born with abnormally small brains, a global public health emergency.
