Suranne Jones Welcomes First Child

Suranne Jones has welcomed her first child with husband Laurence Akers.

The actress, who is notoriously private regarding her family life, hinted last week that she had become a first-time mother. She won the prize for Best Actress at this year's Broadcasting Press Guild Awards, but was unable to collect the accolade in person. In a recorded video message, however, the 37-year-old said: "Sorry I can't be there, but I have a good excuse."


A representative for the actress later confirmed the news to the MailOnline, saying: "Suranne and Laurence were overjoyed to welcome their son into the world last week."

No further details have been released.

Jones and Akers tied the knot in 2014 following a six-month romance.
