Lancashire Constabulary confirmed today, 23 March, that a 30-year-old man was arrested this morning at an address in the Fleetwood area. He is currently in custody.
A 29-year-old woman was also arrested this morning at an address in Thornton on suspicion of causing/allowing the death of a child. She is also in custody.
On Friday, 11 March, the police were called to a property on Warren Street at around 6.30am following a report that a baby was in a serious condition.
The baby, two-month-old Daisy Mae Burrill, was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital having suffered a suspected cardiac arrest. She was later transferred to Manchester Children's Hospital but died on Monday, 14 March.
A post mortem examination revealed she had died from a head injury.
The man and woman were initially arrested on suspicion of Section 18 – wounding with intent and were bailed pending further enquiries. They have now been arrested on suspicion of the new offences following Daisy Mae's death.
